Baja's first litter (hopefully)!!

Baja's first litter was born Monday, March 19th!!! Actually, Brynna (the mom) was bred with Baja and a male Golden named Hardin, so we have to wait and see if any of the puppies are actually Baja's. This is a "Z" litter, and there are 5 boys and 3 girls (all yellow). Here's a picture :-)Also, Baja has three other litters on the way! He has been bred with three different lab/golden cross girls so far: Inez, Shira II, and Kashi.






Inez is due April 18th










Shira is due April 22nd









Kashi is due May 13th.

Ahhh...adolescence

OMSI has been driving me crazy this last week! He has started barking and whining in his crate, he is reluctant to go upstairs at bedtime, reluctant to get in the car, reluctant to put on his cape and then trying to scratch at it when we're out in public, he is not as responsive to corrections or as willing to do commands...argh! But, I seem to remember complaining a lot about Blaze all through his adolescence, and he turned out okay. OMSI just turned 8 months old and he's still intact, so I guess this shouldn't surprise me too much. It's still annoying, though!

I didn't have to work yesterday, so I decided to take OMSI down to the Pacific Science Center to walk around. There were tons of kids, and he was not overly distracted by them and sat very calmly when they were petting him. We walked through the dinosaur exhibit with large moving dinosaur models and sounds. OMSI watched them, but showed no signs of fear. Sadly, when I tried to take pictures, my camera had a dead battery :-( We also walked through the "Grossology" exhibit ("the 'impolite' science of the human body"). There were some really interesting thing in that exhibit for OMSI. We spent about 10 minutes by an activity where kids could shoot ping-pong balls up a large nose (OMSI had to practice Heel and Side facing away from the balls...really hard!). We also walked inside of a different large nose that had speakers of a sneeze with air blowing out (OMSI cocked his head, but was not fearful at all). I won't describe all the exhibits, but I think you get the idea. After visiting the Science Center we took a ride on the Monorail and then went to my sister's house for a movie night. Overall, I was very pleased with how Mr. OMSI did, except for his trying to scratch at his cape and overall not being as responsive as normal. Since I don't have any pictures of our outing, here's OMSI's 8 month picture (with my cat Rebel in the background).

Hockey Game

Well, last month was pretty busy. OMSI spent the first week at Zahara's raisers house, and did fairly well. They have two little kids, and said that OMSI got overstimulated around them for the first few days. Then, OMSI spent the third week at another raisers house while I was housesitting for a friend who had a dog-aggressive dog (plus two Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers...one was a VERY cute 6 month old puppy).

We also had more snow last week! OMSI had a great time playing in it, of course, and he really liked sticking his head into the snow and pushing it around. What a funny puppy!

We went to a hockey game last night with our CCI chapter and the SeaTac Guide Dog Puppy Raiser group (GDA with one GD of the Desert). Before the game, some CCI puppies got to go onto the ice and do a demonstration, with the announcer talking about CCI. It was a really good game with lots of action and cheering and noise. OMSI was very good and wasn't bothered by the crowds or noise. He pretty much either slept on my lap or under my chair.
